A team of plastics industry veterans opened a custom medical and industrial compounding company in Leominster in September.
Peak Performance Compounding Inc. said they expect to create nearly three dozen jobs in Central Massachusetts over the next few years.
Todd Marchand, Peak's president, said they offer technology to allow for processing difficult thermoplastic materials, highly filled products, and precision compounds.
The facility is expected to fill the gap created by the closure last summer of the former A. Schulman Inc. plant in Worcester by LyondellBasell Industries.
Houston-based LyondellBasell acquired Schulman for $2.25 billion last year. At the time, industry watchers said it was unlikely that all 72 sites would remain open.
In addition to Marchand, Peak's owners include Robert Tocci Jr., Michael Carota, and Jonas Angu.
