Lawyers and legal professionals with specialized expertise in areas like intellectual property, litigation, corporate and security and bankruptcy law are in high demand at the nation’s law firms, according to a new study by legal staffing firm Robert Half Legal.
Half identified the following five areas as “in-demand positions” for 2008: First-year associates, particularly those who finished in the top 20 percent of their class or possess experience within a specific practice area; patent attorneys, especially with trial experience in IP, IT, biotech and health care; in-house attorneys with a regulatory compliance background; litigation paralegals; and intellectual property secretaries with trademark or patent experience.
The report is based on an analysis of job orders and placements nationwide.
