Southbridge Credit Union will move its flagship location to 179 Main St. in Southbridge, the company announced on Friday, marking a historic change.
The bank’s main location had been at 205 Main St. for decades.
“The welcoming and open design of the new main branch will allow for more personable member interaction and human connection,” said President and CEO Kate Alexander, in a statement.
In the announcement, the bank said the new location would mark a departure from more traditional bank floorplans, which often include large lobbies and high ceilings. The new flagship location will include what the bank described as a practical, modern design.
Separately, the bank announced all SCU locations have officially reopened to customers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Correction: A previous version of this article stated that Southbridge Credit Union was at its 179 Main St. location for 82 years. While the bank was at that location for decades, it was not necessarily there for 82 years, as previously stated.
