Southborough insurance company refunds $90K to bars and restaurants from liquor policies

Southborough-based Hospitality Insurance Group has processed nearly $90,000 worth of refunds for liquor liability policyholders whose policies expired between March 16 and May 4, the company announced in a press release last month.

As bars and restaurants around the country were closed due to efforts to stem the spread of the coronavirus, the refunds were intended to provide relief to policyholders, who would not have the same liabilities if their dining rooms were open.

Checks were put in the mail the week of April 20, according to the insurance group.

Hospitality Insurance Group said it plans to process a second refund based on economic re-opening dates established in each state where it provides coverage.
