Solvus Global, a technology solutions company founded by two PhD graduates from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, has received a $1.6 million grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to develop a new manufacturing center, according to a Friday announcement.

Christine Nolan, director for the Center for Advanced Manufacturing at the Massachusetts Tech Collaborative, announced the grant at a ribbon cutting event for Solvus Global’s new 32,000-square-foot facility, located in Leominster, on Friday.

The new Leominster location gives Solvus three locations, with its Webster location and Worcester headquarters.

The grant will be used to develop the first-ever integrated wire arc additive manufacturing, heat treating, and machine center for large area additive manufacturing, capable of producing parts from aluminum, titanium, and steel in excess of five feet on a side.

Solvus co-founders -- Aaron Birt and Sean Kelly -- were named to the WBJ 40 Under Forty, Class of 2021.
