Natick-based BJ’s Wholesale Club reported December sales increased by 9.4 percent to $1.16 billion, compared to $1.06 billion in sales last December.
The club saw same-store sales increase by 4.8 percent in December, including a gasoline sales increase of 2.1 percent. Excluding gasoline sales, same-store sales rose 2.7 percent.
The company said a severe snow storm affected more than half of the chain’s stores during two weeks of the month.
The company also reported that customer traffic, excluding gasoline sales, increased by about 4 percent in December, but the average transaction amount decreased by about 1 percent.
BJ’s has 186 stores in 15 states.
