Worcester County reported 65 new coronavirus cases Thursday, which is an uptick from Wednesday's low numbers, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The new cases in the county bring the total to 11,885, and is a larger increase compared to Wednesday's 17 new cases. Throughout Massachusetts, there were 519 confirmed and probable cases on Thursday bringing the total to 104,675.
Fatalities in Worcester County increased by five adding to the 849 recorded since the pandemic began. Statewide, probable and confirmed coronavirus deaths increased by 38 contributing to the 7,492 total.
The Department of Public Health reported on Thursday 12,367 newly administered coronavirus tests.
The City of Worcester reported 19 new cases and 5,068 overall on Thursday.
UMass Memorial Health Care and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester report 77 cases and 32 in the ICU. In total, the hospitals have had 314 coronavirus deaths, and 355 employees have tested positive for the virus.
MetroWest Medical Center in Natick and Framingham report 30 suspected and confirmed cases, and Milford Regional Medical Center reports 12, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. There were 12 suspected and confirmed cases in intensive care between the hospitals. Heywood Hospital and HealthAlliance in Leominster reported 16 suspected and confirmed cases, and six in intensive care.
Nationally, case numbers have crossed a record 2 million and there have been 113,652 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Worldwide, there have been over 7.4 million cases and 814,846 deaths.
