Skin cream co. expands advisory board

Transport Pharmaceuticals Inc. of Framingham has expanded its scientific advisory board with three new appointees.

Dr. Bruce E. Strober, Agis Kydonieus and Mark R. Prausnitz were named to the board, which now has six members.

Strober is an assistant professor of dermatology at New York University. Kydonieus is president of Samos Pharmaceuticals LLC, and Prausnitz is professor of chemical and biomedical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Transport makes drugs and their delivery devices for the topical treatment of skin conditions. The company is developing a product called SoloVir for the treatment of herpes or cold sores. The company also has “promising clinical candidates” for the treatment of warts, acne, psoriasis and skin cancer, the company said.

Transport is privately held. Investors include Quaker BioVentures, the Carlyle Group, the Hillman Co. and the Halleran Co.
