Simplivity consults on HBO's "Silicon Valley"

Employees from Westborough technology firm Simplivity served as consultants for the producers and writers of the HBO show "Silicon Valley," with the company’s flagship OmniCube being used as the basis for technology appearing in Sunday night’s episode.

The company and its technology served as the basis for the Pied Piper Box that was a part of the episode. As preparation for the episode, the HBO creative team visited SimpliVity’s headquarters in Westborough to view, research and recreate an authentic data center and product development space for the show, according to a release from Simplivity.

SimpliVity also helped the TV show’s creative team accurately portray the phases of product development and testing that led to development of the Pied Piper Box on the "Silicon Valley" show.

"Silicon Valley," co-created by Mike Judge, is a clever depiction of the high-tech industry in the San Francisco Bay Area. The television show follows the trials and triumphs of a small group of young engineers creating a startup company in Silicon Valley.

The Simplivity OmniCube appliance uses the company’s OmniStack Data Virtualization Platform to combine all IT infrastructure and data services -- including computing, storage, backup and replication -- to reduce IT costs and streamline operations.
