Providence-based Gilbane Building Co. will be the construction manager at the $37 million Sherwood Middle School project in Shrewsbury.
The 130,000-square-foot project will be built on the site of two existing middle school buildings and was designed by Worcester-based Lamoureux Pagano Associates Architects.
Gilbane, which has an office in Boston, has built more than $4.7 billion in K-12 schools.
The Shrewsbury project was designed as a “neighborhood,” with five clusters of six or eight classrooms supported by shared resource and common rooms.
The school will serve 900 5th and 6th grade students.
