Bisousweet Confections, a Shirley-based wholesale bakery supplying baked goods to retailers nationwide, is expanding into a new facility in Leominster.
Bisousweet is owned by Karen Collins and currently operates out of a 5,000-square-foot facility in Shirley, east of Leominster. The bakery is investing $2.8 million into the new warehouse, according to a press release from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development.
The expansion project was approved for participation in the state’s Economic Development Incentive Program, which is yielding $750,000 in investment tax credits for Bisousweet, according to a state press release. Leominster granted the bakery a tax increment financing agreement of nearly $12,000 in November.
The TIF agreement states the company’s new site will be located at 554 Willard St., which is a 19,400-square-foot manufacturing facility located in Leominster’s Jytek Park. In a deal closed Nov. 4, the property sold for $1.34 million to Lexvest Willard, LLC, a firm registered to real estate agency The Lexvest Group, according to the deed. Lexvest has an office in the same building as Bisousweet, per their websites.
Once in operation, the new facility will support 50 newly created jobs in addition to the company's current 30 full-time and 25 part-time employees, according to Collins.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this story stated Bisousweet has 20 employees. There are 55 workers in total currently employed at Bisousweet.
