The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection fined New Jersey-based ThermoFab Operating Co. $19,653 for violating air emission and hazardous waste storage and disposal regulations at its 76 Walker Road location in Shirley.
An inspection by MassDEP revealed the company failed to use compliant materials and to maintain required air emission records. The company was not meeting standards for storage of hazardous waste and waste oil and was discharging industrial wastewater outside to the ground without a permit, according to a Wednesday press release from MassDEP.
“ThermoFab Operating Company, LLC violated multiple environmental regulations that reduce pollution and enhance safety,” Mary Jude Pigsley, director of MassDEP’s Central Regional Office in Worcester, said in the press release. “Going forward, the company must ensure compliance with all applicable environmental and public safety requirements.”
ThermoFab is a contract manufacturer located in Shirley creating heavy gauge plastic enclosures serving the medical, life sciences, automation, and robotics industries.
