Phil Giudice, commissioner of the state Department of Energy Resources, is expected in Acton on Saturday to announce the latest round of funding for municipalities through the Green Communities Act.
Acton, Hopkinton, Lancaster, Lincoln, Natick, Sudbury and Worcester are the local communities out of 35 across the Bay State that will receive a share of $8.1 million in green community funding from the state.
The grant award ceremony will take place at the Harvest Energy Fair at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The green communities grants are funded through proceeds of the carbon allowance auction known as the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).
