Milford-based SeraCare Life Sciences Inc., which had a somewhat turbulent 2011, started its new fiscal year with a $1 million profit and an 8.6-percent increase in revenue.
Profit for the human diagnostics and therapeutics company’s first fiscal quarter was down 36 percent year over year. Revenue was $11.3 million, up from $10.4 million in 2010.
Gregory Gould, interim president and CEO, said the revenue growth was the result of a new sales strategy.
The company’s profits and revenue both dropped during its fiscal year 2011, which ended Sept. 30. Revenues were $43.3 million, down from $50.3 million in 2010. And profits were $2.6 million, a drop of 60 percent from the year before.
The company announced in August that it’s exploring strategic alternatives, including a possible sale.
