Marlborough pharmaceutical company Sepracor Inc. is changing its name to Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Inc. in the United States.
Sepracor was acquired by Japan-based Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co. Ltd. last October, and in April the parent company merged its existing North American operations into Sepracor. Dainippon said the name change will encourage a sense of unity for its U.S. operations.
The company said the name change will be effective before the end of the year. It said it will also use the Sunovion name in certain other parts of the world.
