The founder and chairman of Marlborough-based pharmaceutical company Sepracor Inc. has been appointed to the board of directors of a heart pump maker HeartWare Ltd.
Timothy J. Barberich’s service on HeartWare Limited’s board begins immediately, according to the company. The company’s board now has seven members. HeartWare is based in Australia, but its U.S. corporate office is in Framingham. Barberich also serves on the boards of BioSphere Medical, Gemin X Biotechnologies and Resolyx Pharmaceuticals. He serves on the Boston Medical Center board of trustees as well.
Barberich founded Sepracor, the maker of sleep drug Lunesta and drugs for nervous system and respiratory disorders, in 1984. He retired from the company last year but remains the company’s chairman.
