Selling The Franchise

According to the International Franchise Association , the franchising sector of the U.S. economy expanded by more than 18 percent between 2001 and 2005.

During that time, the franchise sector added 140,000 new businesses and 1.2 million new employees, according to the Washington, D.C.-based association's recently released economic impact study. The study suggests that the direct economic output of franchises grew by more than 40 percent to $880 billion in 2005.

The study was prepared for the association by international financial services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
