On Monday, Worcester’s Internet service provider, Charter Communications, Inc., announced a new Spectrum Store will open at 68 Stafford St., becoming the second Spectrum location in the city.
The store offers support for telephone, television, and Internet services and is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day except Sunday, when it is open 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The store opening took place one week after the city held its second public hearing on renewing its contract with Charter, which is based in Connecticut.
Worcester residents voiced complaints at both public hearings about poor quality and high rates. One common complaint was the hours-long waits at Spectrum’s Grafton Street location, which was previously the only physical store in the city.
The City currently holds a cable television contract with Spectrum which is set to expire in 2023. In the 36 months before that expiration, a city advisory committee reviews the performance of the provider to report to the city manager ahead of contract negotiations.
