38 Studios, the Maynard-based video game company founded by Boston Red Sox great Curt Schilling, has acquired Big Huge Games from publisher THQ Inc.
Brett Close, 38 Studios’ president and CEO, said the acquisition readies 38 Studios for future growth. He said BHG’s intellectual property, tools, technology, works in progress and other assets will accelerate 38 Studios’ plan to market games in multiple genres that are based in a shared “world.”
BHG will remain in Timonium, Md. The company is currently developing games for the popular XBox 360, Playstation 3 and PC gaming systems.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
