SBA honors five Central Mass. businesses of the year

The U.S. Small Business Administration has selected five Central Massachusetts companies for the National Small Business Week Awards, the agency announced Monday. 

Across Massachusetts, 12 businesses were honored for awards like Small Business Person of the Year and Homebased Business of the Year. The five businesses selected in Central Massachusetts are:

  • Euro-American Worldwide Logistics in Worcester and its president, Eric Busenburg, are the Family Owned Business of the Year.
  • ARCpoint Labs in Southborough and its owner, Gauri Bhalakia, are the Minority Owned Business of the Year.
  • Bisousweet Confections in Shirley and its CEOI, Karen Collins, are the Women Owned Business of the Year.
  • David Zamarin, CEO of Framingham manufacturer DetraPel is the Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Zamarin won both the statewide and regional New England levels of this award.
  • J&J Machine Co. in Marlborough and its president, Devin Brown, is the Small Manufacturer of the Year.

“We are honored and humbled to present our Massachusetts SBA Small Business Week Awards to a phenomenal list of champions,“ said Robert Nelson, district director of the SBA for Massachusetts, in a press release. “Small businesses continue to be the backbone of the economy and the fabric of our communities here in the commonwealth, and National Small Business Week is a very special time to stand back and to celebrate the accomplishments and impacts they all make.”

The honorees will receive their awards in a ceremony May 5.
