Savers Bank has promoted employee Keri Gonzalez to executive vice president, chief operating officer of the Southbridge-based financial institution.
Having originally joined Savers in 2017, Gonzalez’s new role is an expansion of her previous position as senior vice president, chief of technology and operations. In her broadened role, Gonzalez will manage Savers’ retail banking and marketing while maintaining her work in compliance, deposit operations, electronic services, and IT, according to an Oct. 15 press release from the bank.
Gonzalez is the first employee to hold the chief operating officer role since 2020 when the bank’s current President and CEO Rosemary Picard was promoted from the position. The role was resurrected to oversee the newly separated departments of marketing and retail banking following the August departure of Alan Melidossian, Savers’ previous senior vice president, marketing, sales and retail banking, Amanda Simpson, vice president of marketing, said in an email to WBJ.
"We’re thrilled to expand Keri’s leadership role," Picard said in the release. "Her expertise in technology, and her proven leadership, makes her the ideal person to lead our bank as we continue to evolve and innovate.”
Gonzalez received her bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College in Easton and her MBA from Florida International University in Miami.
Savers is the 18th largest bank in Central Massachusetts when ranked by local deposits as of June 30, 2023, according to WBJ’s Research Department. Founded in 1910, Savers accumulated $535.5 million in local deposits and $718 million in total assets through its seven locations in Southbridge, Uxbridge, Auburn, Grafton, Charlton, and Sturbridge.
