According to the U.S. Department of Labor, wholesale prices increased by 0.7 percent in April, pushed by rising energy prices.
The producer price index (PPI) for finished goods rose 0.7 percent during April, energy prices increased 3.4 percent, and wholesale gasoline prices rose 8.2 percent during the same period, according to the department.
With food and energy out of the equation, wholesale prices for finished goods in April were unchanged compared to March.
