French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi said it has acquired Woburn-based Pluromed Inc., a medical device maker.
Last year, Sanofi acquired Boston-based Genzyme Corp., which has major operations in Framingham.
Sanofi said it will commercialize Pluromed’s LeGoo, an FDA-approved gel that provides temporary blood vessel occlusion during surgery. That means surgeons can control bleeding without the use of clamps or snares, which can injure blood vessels.
