April sales at Westborough-based BJ’s Wholesale Club rose 12.2 percent to $871.7 million.
Comparable store sales rose 8.5 percent for the month, with gasoline sales making up about half of that increase. Another boost came from the timing of Easter, which had a positive impact of 2.7 percent on comparable store sales.
For the first quarter, net sales for the company rose 10 percent to $2.77 billion and comparable club sales rose 6.3 percent, again including a big contribution from gas sales.
