Saint Vincent opens behavioral health outpatient center

Saint Vincent Hospital has launched a partial hospitalization program in Worcester for patients who need structured behavioral health therapy, the latest effort by a regional health provider to increase access to mental health services.

The center, at 299 Lincoln St., services adults with acute psychiatric needs, such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress or self-destructive behavior. It is an outpatient program, designed to either prevent hospitalization due to mental health issues, or serve as the first step out of an inpatient setting. Adolescents will be able to receive treatment at the center starting this fall, according to a press release.

The program also includes a dual-diagnosis unit, geared towards individuals suffering from both behavioral health and substance abuse disorders. Harrington HealthCare System in Southbridge is launching an inpatient dual-diagnosis unit with 16 beds later this year.
