Texas-based Tenet Healthcare, the company that owns and operates Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester and MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, has expanded the scope of its CEO’s role. Dr. Saum Sutaria will now additionally be chairman of the board of directors at Tenet.
Sutaria replaces Robert Kerrey in the position, as Kerrey transitions to hold the role of lead director of the board, according to a Thursday press release from Tenet. Kerrey previously held that spot from 2017-2022.
Sutaria has served as the company’s CEO since 2021 and has been on the board of directors since 2020. He was formerly Tenet’s chief operating officer.
“The appointment of Saum to Chairman is a testament to his steadfast leadership and commitment to Tenet Healthcare. The board looks forward to working closely with him in this new capacity to continue to create value for all our stakeholders," Kerrey said in the press release.
Sutuaria holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and earned his medical degree from University of California San Diego.
