With coronavirus cases down and hospitalizations sharply falling, Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester is loosening its visitor restrictions.
The hospital said Thursday it's now allowing non-coronavirus patients one visitor per day, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Outpatient surgical, procedural patients and emergency room patients are included, with emergency room patients required to be in a private room and not be COVID-19-positive.
Some exceptions exist to the restrictions, including end-of-life care, patients under 18 and those who need a support person for cognitive or physical reasons. Visitors will be screened for symptoms before entering the hospital and must wear masks during their entire visit.
Saint Vincent had five coronavirus inpatient cases as of Wednesday, none of which were in critical care. Another two patients were categorized as potentially having the virus.
