Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester has expanded its capacity to test and treat abnormal heart rhythms.
Known as electrophysiology, the service has had a rising demand in the area, said Saint Vincent CEO Carolyn Jackson. The hospital’s service expansion includes a second electrophysiology room, where patients can be monitored, evaluated and treated for heart arrhythmia.
The hospital held a reception marking the opening of the new electrophysiology room Tuesday.
Saint Vincent has already offered services for heart rhythm abnormalities, including an implantable device called the Watchman for reducing risk for stroke for patients with atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat condition, that can be performed in the new electrophysiology suite.
