Construction materials and building products giant Saint-Gobain has awarded its Northborough R&D facility with the company’s “Care: 4” award, making it one of two company buildings worldwide to receive the award.
The goal of Saint-Gobain’s Care: 4 program is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions of company-owned buildings by a factor of four by 2040.
The new 186,000-square-foot research and development center is part of a 26-acre, three-building complex that employs more than 300 people just off Interstate 290. The facility was built using a variety of high-efficiency design and construction elements.
Paris-based Saint-Gobain uses the facility as its main research location for high-performance plastics and coated abrasives.
In total, the company employs more than 190,000 people in 64 countries.
