John Ratzenberger, best known for his role as a beer-swilling mail carrier on the hit show Cheers, has been named to the board of trustees at Sacred Heart University.
Ratzenberger, a Bridgeport native, attended the Fairfield school, majoring in English literature. In 2002, Sacred Heart honored him with a doctorate of human letters for his contribution to the American arts. The actor stays closely connected to the region by participating in city events, fundraisers and artistic productions.
