Rockland Trust, which operates branches across both Eastern and Central Massachusetts, opened its 123rd branch in late May, located on Lyman Street in Westborough.
The bank, which is headquartered in the Plymouth County town of Rockland, announced in a press release on May 23 the new location was strategically located between the company’s branches in Worcester and Franklin, as part of an effort to expand services across Central Massachusetts.
"Our expansion into MetroWest and Worcester County has been an extremely important part of the bank’s growth strategy over the last several years," said Rob Cozzone, chief operating officer and executive vice president of retail and business banking at Rockland Trust. "Our success depends on having a strong branch presence where our exceptional colleagues can build meaningful relationships within the local community.”
Rockland Trust has $881 million in local deposits throughout its now 10 Central Massachusetts branches, according to Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. data as of June 30. This makes Rockland the 13th largest bank in Central Massachusetts, according to WBJ’s analysis of FDIC data.
In coinciding with the new branch opening, the bank appointed Marisha Day as branch manager for the Westborough location. Day has previously held branch manager or assistant manager roles at several other banks in the MetroWest area, including Boston-based Berkshire Bank, Providence-based Citizens Bank, and Boston-based Santander Bank.
“I have been lucky to spend the majority of my career as a retail branch manager in Westborough,” said Day in the press release. “Our team is inspired by the connectedness of this community and thrilled to introduce our neighbors to Rockland Trust’s relationship-oriented style of banking.”
As part of the branch opening, Rockland Trust donated $10,000 to One Mission, a Westborough nonprofit providing children and families dealing with pediatric cancer with financial and emotional support.
