Rockland Trust Co., which opened two branches in Worcester last year, has named two new people to its board, concurrently with parent company Independent Bank Corp.
The two new appointees are Warren Fields, president and CEO of Pyramid Hotel Group in Boston, and James O’Shanna Morton, CEO of YMCA of Greater Boston, according to a Thursday press release. Both appointments are effective Feb. 1.
Fields is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in New York. In 2019, he was named to the Massport board of directors by Gov. Charlie Baker. Before joining PHG, he served as vice president of development operations for Promus Hotel Corp. of Tennessee, which was later sold to Hilton Hotel Corpo. In 1999.
Morton, in turn, holds a juris doctorate from the Northeastern University School of Law in Boston and bachelor of arts in sociology from the University of Wisconsin. Morton serves as the vice chair of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, a member of the Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership, a member of the City of Boston’s My Brother’s Keeper Advisory Board, and serves on the board of Boston After School and Beyond.
