Rockland Trust, a fast-growing South Shore bank that opened its first Worcester branch early this year, is now adding a second.
A banking office at 967 Grafton St. will open Monday, joining another at 301 Grove St. in the Trolley Yard retail development. The new location in a Stop & Shop-anchored plaza will replace a former People's United Bank.
Rockland Trust is planning a Shrewsbury branch early next year to be its sixth Worcester County location. It also opened a commercial lending center and investment management office in 2018 on Front Street in downtown Worcester.
Rockland Trust, which has $13 billion in assets, has expanded largely through acquiring smaller banks. The bank, which is based in Rockland, has made eight acquisitions in the past decade, including Milford National Bank in 2018.
Rockland Trust announced this month it has become a sponsor of the WorcLab, a startup incubator in Worcester.
