Rachel Lopez, president of the Fitchburg human resources outsourcing company Resource Management, Inc. has been elected as chair of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce board of directors, the 700-member organization announced on Monday.
Lopez is the first Latina to become the board chair of the 37-year-old chamber, said President & CEO Roy Nascimento.
The decision was shared with the chamber at its annual meeting on June 10. The North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce is the second largest chamber in Central Massachusetts and is the only one with its own lending division, the North Central Massachusetts Development Corp.
Lopez will replace David Duval, president and founder of Protective Services, Inc., a Lunenburg company providing fire, security, surveillance, access control and sprinkler system contracting.
“It is an honor and privilege to have been elected chair of this dynamic and respected organization that plays such an important role in North Central Massachusetts,” said Lopez, in a statement. “I am excited to continue David Duval’s efforts and make sure the chamber remains a strong resource for the local business community.”
Separately, the board elected Fidelity Bank President and COO Christopher McCarthy as vice-chair, and Dixie Consumer Products General Manager Cheryl Molebash as treasurer. Both businesses are based in Leominster.
