Auburn-based contractor and water utility manager R.H. White Companies promoted Thomas White to president and Jeffrey Towle to chief operating officer, both reporting to CEO James McCarthy, who since 2019 served as president and CEO.
The promotions were effective May 1, according to a Wednesday press release from the company.
Thomas White is a fourth-generation family member with the company which is celebrating its 100th year in operation this year. White was promoted from division manager of construction services. As president, his primary focus will be to grow the entire organization, particularly in the private sector.
“Tom has been an essential part of our team for many years, and his management of CSD [construction services division] for three years has garnered outstanding results,” McCarthy said in the press release. “Under his leadership, the division grew safely and profitably, and he landed several ideal clients for our organization.”
Towle is a more-than-25-year veteran of the construction and utility industries, serving Maine-based construction giant Cianbro and Connecticut-based Northeast Utilities, which rebranded itself as Eversource Energy following its merger with Boston utility NStar. He was promoted to R.H. White’s COO from his position as vice president of operations.
As COO, Towle will be responsible for achieving a zero-incident safety record year over year, sustainably growing the company, and achieving the operational plan objectives.
R.H. White employs 500 across its offices in Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. It has operated WhiteWater, a water and wastewater management company since 1980.
In 2022 the company reported 188 Central Massachusetts employees, placing it third on the WBJ list of Top Commercial Contractors ranked by local employees among firms that reported data.
