Marlborough medical device firm ReWalk Robotics on Tuesday named industry veteran Peter L. Wehrly to permanently take over the position on its nine-member board of directors held on an interim basis by an Israeli venture capitalist.
Wehrly has more than 25 years of experience in medical devices and an expertise in global operations, having lived and run businesses in North America, Western Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, Canada and Israel, according to a release from ReWalk.
He replaces interim ReWalk board member Jay Kalish, who is the general counsel and partner at OurCrowd Management Ltd. of Israel, which is a hybrid crowdfunding/venture capital platform for accredited investors. Kalish had served on KeWalk's audit committee, and Wehrly will take over that duty as well.
Wehrly served in several senior roles at Irish health care conglomerate Covidien plc from 2009 until 2015, including group president of developed markets and group president of respiratory and monitoring solutions and vascular therapies. Before joining Covidien, he served as president and CEO of the $3 billion Spinal, Biologics and Navigation Division at Medingo Youqneam in Israel. Prior to that he held executive roles at Medtronic Spinal & Biologics in Memphis and as division president of DePuy, a division of Johnson & Johnson.
