UW Senior LLC has proposed building a care retirement community at 757 Salisbury St. in Worcester, according to the Worcester Zoning Board of Appeals agenda.
The project will consist of three three-story buildings with 123 apartments for seniors 55+ and a clubhouse for management offices and amenities, like a fitness center, indoor pool, library, and function room, according to an application filed with the City of Worcester. UW Senior LLC is based in Troy, New York, and is an affiliate of developer United Group of Companies, Inc.,
The development plan was approved by the Worcester Planning Board on Nov. 30. A previous plan for a retirement community on the site was blocked by the Planning Board in 2020.
The developer must request a variance for the planned height of the building as the current zoning only allows for 2.5 stories, which the Zoning Board of Appeals will consider at its Monday meeting.
The property was known as Bramble Hill, the former estate of Alice and Milton Higgins. It is now abandoned. The Georgian Revival style mansion was repeatedly on Preservation Worcester’s most endangered structure list.
The property is owned by Premier Property Group LLC of Dracut, which bought it in 2018 for $820,000.
Hope they think about the traffic - volume and speed in their meetings
Finally they are thinking about seniors. Hope the rent will be affordable.
