Retail Use Of Tablets Growing

A new study by Retail Info Systems News finds that more than half of retailers are using or preparing to use tablet computers to help them run their stores.

The study, focused on more than 50 retailers, found that 6 percent of them have fully deployed tablet computers in their stores. Another 28 percent are testing the technology, and 31 percent more plan to start testing it this year.

The study was cosponsored by Motorola Solutions and RBM Technologies, which sell hardware and software for retail-focused tablet computing.

The most common reasons retailers are interested in the computers include improving support for sales floor workers, updating store layouts and connecting to enterprise apps.
