The U.S. Census Bureau said retail and food services sales for October hit $373.1 billion, an increase of 1.2 percent over the same month a year ago on strong auto sales.
Retail trade sales were up 1.3 percent from September 2010, and 7.7 percent above last year. Auto and other motor vehicle dealer sales were up 14.7 percent from a year prior.
Non-store retail sales were up 13.5 percent from last year.
