Retail sales were down 1.8 percent in November, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The department said sales for the month hit $355.7 billion, a decrease of 1.8 percent from the previous month and 7.4 percent below November 2007.
Total sales for September, October and November were down 4.5 percent from the same period a year ago and 2.5 percent below the department’s predictions.
