The wholesale supplier Restaurant Depot is set to open a Milford location on Wednesday, bringing 38 new jobs to the town.
In a press release, the College Point, N.Y.-based company said area restaurant owners can now pick up their goods in Milford. Previously, the next closest locations were in Needham, Avon and Rhode Island.
The 62,000-square-foot store will save customers an average of 15 percent on purchases, the company said.
In addition to food and drink, the store also includes a large selection of restaurant equipment and supplies and a full line of packaging solutions.
The location will be open seven days a week to members only. Membership is free to all businesses and nonprofit organizations.
The restaurant supply wholesaler is opening as part of a larger development originally including a business park. The property owner, Gutierrez Co., instead won approval from the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals in September for an apartment project of 272 units with 25 percent affordable.
