Home remodeling across the country was up 8 percent in February, according to the BuildFax Remodeling Index.
The number of building permits pulled for remodels in February was 3,299,000. That was down 2 percent from January’s 3,360,000.
In the Northeast, remodeling was up 4 percent over last year as well as January, to 446,000. The South saw an increase of 7 percent over last year and 2 percent from January, to 1,340,000. Meanwhile, permits in the Midwest were up 2 percent over 2012, but dropped 17 percent from January, totaling 716,000. The West saw an increase of 12 percent over last year and a decline of 5 percent from January, to 846,000.
