The 136-suite Residence Inn by Marriott in Natick has opened at the site of the former Sam’s Club on Superior Drive.
Jointly owned by XSS Hotels of Hooksett, N.H. and Newton-based National Development, the companies say it is the first extended-stay hotel to open in Natick. It is managed by Colwen Management Inc. of Portsmouth, N.H., which also operates the AC Hotel by Marriott in Worcester.
Located across from the Natick Mall and 24 miles to downtown Boston, the Residence Inn Boston Natick offers its guests access to Wellesley College, Framingham State University and Babson College.
The company declined to provide the project costs. But Natick’s Building Commissioner David Gusmini said the owners filed for permits totaling $13 million. The nightly rates range from $140 to $156, according to Marriott’s website.
"When on the road for an extended period, our guests need space to spread out, maintain their life’s pace and restore their energy to help maintain a healthy balance and routine while traveling,” said Diane Mayer, vice president and global brand manager at Residence Inn, in a statement. “This new hotel offers a seamless blend of modern style and functionality that allows them to settle in and thrive.”
The hotel was designed with studio and one-bedroom suites. Designed for stays of five nights or more, each suite also has a fully-equipped kitchen.
The hotel is pet-friendly and provides guests with a business library, a fitness center, a full-service bar in the lobby, and complimentary parking.
The hotel has a 3,800-square-foot event venter with flexible space accommodating groups up to 160 people.
