Leominster-based manufacturer PFERD Inc. plans to consolidate its staff and operations at its Wisconsin facility, BizTimes of Milwaukee is reporting.
The move to Milwaukee will be completed by the early third quarter of 2015, and then the Massachusetts location will close, according to a story at BizTimes.com Monday. It says that among operations being consolidated at the 100,000-square-foot Milwaukee facility are brush production, distribution, and sales and marketing.
The story says that, according to PFERD president Gene Huegin, 20 executive personnel, marketing and customer service positions will be relocated from Massachusetts to Milwaukee. However, he expects about 6 of the 20 employees to make the move, with the rest being new hires.
Currently, 110 employees work in Milwaukee. In addition to the 20 Massachusetts employees, PFERD has 40 salespeople, according to the BizTimes story.
Leominster has served as the company’s U.S. headquarters since 1979, PFERD's website says.
A message left with Heugin Tuesday was not immediately answered.
PFERD Inc. is the wholly owned subsidiary of August Rüggeberg GmbH and Co., a 216-year-old family- owned business in Marienheide, Germany. It has been operating in the United States for more than 30 years. PFERD launched PFERD Canada in 2009 and purchased Superior Abrasives in Dayton, Ohio, in 2012.
