ForeclosuresMass.com, a data provider of foreclosure info, announced that the statewide foreclosure rate jumped 72 percent last month over August of 2005.
1,812 foreclosures were recorded in the Bay State in August of 2006, climbing from 1,055 in the same month last year. It was also the largest month-to-month increase recorded in the past three years, when 1,348 foreclosures were initiated in July of 2006. Between August of 2005 and 2006, the counties with the largest increases in foreclosures were Bristol, Dukes and Essex.
