Rentschler Biopharma, a contract development and manufacturing firm, has named a new CEO of its American operations based in Milford.
Martin Kessler was announced as the new CEO on Wednesday, with the German company describing Kessler's role as leading Rentschler's expanding operations in Milford. Kessler has more than 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical operations and strategy, the company said, and he joins Rentschler from McKinsey & Co., where he was an associate partner and led the firm's medical device operations in Europe.
As a consultant, Kessler had already been working with Rentschler across a range of areas, including strategy for its American site in Milford.
Rentschler, a family-owned firm making drug products for other companies, bought a former Shire drug manufacturing facility in Milford in 2019 and said at the time it would continue to make products for the drugmaker there. The 93,000-square-foot site on Maple Street became Rentschler's first American operations site and its first outside of Germany. It now also has a site in the United Kingdom.
