Year-over-year housing sales in New England decreased 8 percent last month, according to the RE/MAX of New England November Monthly Housing Report.
Pending sales were up 5.8 percent over November 2013, while month-to-month figures declined 20.4 percent.
Massachusetts fared somewhat better than the region as a whole last month, showing a decrease of 6.8 percent in total transactions year over year. Meanwhile, the median price of a Massachusetts home increased 4.5 percent, and pending sales were up 2.4 percent over November 2013.
Across New England, homes are staying on the market an average of nearly three weeks less than this time last year, and prices continues to hold steady.
“We expect to see home sales trailing off in the fourth quarter as we get into these cold winter months,” Dan Breault, executive vice president/regional director of RE/MAX New England said. “The good news is that prices are holding steady across the region and houses are staying on the market fewer days than a year ago.”
