Reliant Medical Group of Worcester is closing its 11 EasyCare pharmacies within its Central Massachusetts facilities next week after selling the pharmacy operations to CVS, the organizations announced.
In a message on its website, Reliant said it regrets “any inconvenience the closure of EasyCare may cause. We are certain that the skilled and knowledgeable pharmacists and staff at CVS/pharmacy will take care of all of your pharmacy needs.”
Reliant said the transfer of patient records, including their prescriptions, will be handled electronically to CVS.
"We want to thank all of our customers for allowing us to take care of their pharmacy needs," said Stephen Knox, vice president of ancillary operations for Reliant, in a statement distributed by CVS. "We are confident that the pharmacists and staff at CVS/pharmacy have the knowledge and expertise to continue serving their needs."
Meanwhile, CVS, based in Woonsocket, R.I., said it welcomes the new patients. “We look forward to providing them the same high level of service they received at EasyCare Pharmacy, while also offering our convenient and high-quality pharmacy services to help people on their path to better health,” said Ericka Wilson-Kerr, region manager of CVS pharmacies in the statement.
A spokesman for Reliant said the organization chose to close and sell the pharmacies because it could not operate them "in the current competitive climate." A sale price was not disclosed.
