Worcester physician group Reliant Medical Group and global health service organization Optum have agreed to terms on their previously planned acquisition, the companies announced Monday.
Those terms, however, were not disclosed. The two companies signed the agreement on Wednesday.
The planned acquisition was first reported by Worcester Business Journal in April. Reliant Medical Group physicians approved the move in May, in which 230 physician members voted on the deal. Reliant trustees approved the deal in April.
Optum is headquartered in Minnesota and is a division of $185-billion managed care conglomerate UnitedHealth Group.
Pending state approval, Reliant and Southboro Medical Group will join OptumCare, the delivery arm of OptumHealth with more than 30,000 physician partners and 6,500 advanced practitioners in health care facilities in the country.
According to the groups, Reliant will benefit from Optum’s data analytics, technology and clinical expertise, but will continue to be locally operated in Central Massachusetts and the MetroWest.
