The Reliant Medical Group Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the Worcester-based physician group, announced it has donated nearly $58,000 to 12 Central Massachusetts nonprofits.
Reliant said it focused on groups that battle obesity, create access to health care for underserved populations and support healthy living.
Programs receiving money include the Higgins Armory Museum's summer fitness education program; Rachel's Table, which delivers milk to 21 agencies for children and families in Worcester; Seven Hills Family Services' health and cooking program; and Visitation House, which provides health and life skills for homeless women in crisis pregnancies.
The foundation also gave $9,000 to Reliant Medical Group to expand a transportation program for low-income elderly patients who need to get to medical appointments.
The foundation awarded $200,000 in grants in 2012 and has pledged to increase that to $250,000 this year.
